Updated: 19 April 2023
The Basic Career Planner Course provides students with the basic capabilities necessary to obtain the primary MOS of Career Planner (4821) and to execute Headquarters Marine Corps enlisted retention policies. The course incorporates the ideas that have evolved from the Recruiting and Retention Training and Readiness (T&R) Manual, Course Content Review Board, Enlisted Retention Task Force, and Sergeants Major Symposiums. Training takes place in a state of the art classroom and group rooms.

Congratulations on your selection to the Basic Prior Service Recruiter Course.
Expect a challenging, but very rewarding and educational seven weeks (35 Training Days). Basic Prior Service Recruiter Course is to prepare selected Staff Non-commissioned Officers and Non-commissioned Officers to recruit Prior Service Marines for Selected Marine Corps Reserve units, Individual Mobilization Augmentee Detachments, Active Reserve Program and to brief separating Marines on reserve obligations and opportunities within the Selected Marine Corps Reserve.
It is highly recommended that each Marine contact one of the Prior Service Recruiting Districts to request a (by-name) assignment prior to reporting to Basic Prior Service Recruiter Course. A By-Name Request (BNR) does not guarantee that Marines will be assigned to a specific Region, District, or Recruiting Station.
Recruiter School does not conduct a combat fitness test. ALL students must have current CFT reflected in MOL prior to check-in.
Marines will report to Recruiters School at 0700 on the pickup date for the corresponding course (refer to Academic Calendar page). Service "A" uniform will be worn for initial check in. Students will be afforded time to change into Woodland MARPAT after.
If you are reporting on TAD orders, you MUST contact MCRD San Diego Billeting located in Bldg. 625 (619) 524-4401, 2 weeks prior to check in date to reserve your room and place your GTCC on file.
If you are on TEMINS orders and your flight arrives prior to pick up date, check in directly to MCRD San Diego Billeting located in Bldg. 625 next to room 293 on the ground floor, (619) 524-4401 in proper civilian attire. There is no need to reserve a room prior to arrival for TEMINS Marines.
If you are on PCS/PCA orders and you utilized the barracks at your previous command, you MUST check out of that barracks room and check into the MCRD San Diego permanent personnel barracks located in building 619. P.O.C. Tim or Alma (619) 524-1947. Call M-F the week before check in to reserve a barracks room.
Lodging will not be funded if you check in prior to the check out date on your detaching orders.
Upon completion of administrative check-in, height/weight will be conducted prior to COB on day of check-in.
