INFLUENCE THE FUTURE: BECOME AN EXTENDED ACTIVE DUTY (EAD) RECRUITER
Lead. Inspire. Build the Next Generation of Marines.
The Opportunity
Are you ready to step back into the uniform full-time, lead in your local community, and fast-track your Marine Corps career?
The Marine Corps EAD Recruiter Program offers qualified Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) and Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) Marines a direct pathway to serve on Active Duty. As an EAD Recruiter, you won't just fill billets, you will serve as a force multiplier, shaping the future of our Corps by finding, screening, and mentoring the next generation of Marines.
Why Choose the EAD Program?
-
Active Duty Pay & Full Benefits: Receive full active duty pay, allowances (BAH, BAS), medical/dental coverage for you and your family, and eligibility for Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Pay upon completion of the Basic Recruiter Course (BRC).
-
Stay Close to Home: We prioritize keeping you local. Under the EAD program, every effort is made to assign you to approved billets within commuting distance of your primary residence, meaning no forced relocations out of your district.
-
A Proven Pathway to Augmentation: Look beyond the reserve horizon. This program is the ultimate steppingstone to transition permanently to the Active Component as a Career Recruiter (BMOS 8412).
-
Develop Elite Leadership: Step into vital roles as Canvassing Recruiters (BMOS 8411) or groom yourself to lead a Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) as a Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC).
Are You Eligible to Apply?
We are looking for highly motivated, highly disciplined leaders who embody our core values. If you meet the following requirements, the recruiting force needs you:
-
Rank: Corporals, Sergeants, Staff Sergeants, and Gunnery Sergeants.
-
Component: Open to active drillers in the SMCR and individual members of the IRR.
-
Time-in-Service Limits: Under 13 years of active service accumulated prior to application (this ensures you do not exceed the 16-year active-service limitation during your tour).
-
Commitment: Must have or be able to gain sufficient obligated reserve service to complete your initial two-year tour.
The Application Process: Simplified
Applying shouldn't feel like navigating a minefield. Here is exactly how your application moves from your initial contact to active-duty orders:
Application ➔ RS Commanding Officer ➔ District Commanding Officer ➔ Region Commanding General Approval
Step 1: Contact Your Local RS Reach out directly to your local Recruiting Station (RS) to express your interest in the EAD program.
Step 2: Build Your Package Your local RS representative will guide you through the process. Together, you will prepare the necessary screening guides, financial worksheets, and statement of service (including NAVMC 1330/1, NAVMC 1330/2, and Statement of Service NAVMC 11501A).
Step 3: Fast-Track Command Endorsement Your package is routed through your immediate leadership:
-
First, endorsed by your local RS Commanding Officer.
-
Next, signed by your parent unit (or processed seamlessly through MCIRSA if you are an IRR Marine).
-
Then, forwarded to your Marine Corps District Commander for final endorsement.
Step 4: Final Approval & Orders Upon final sign-off by the Region Commanding General, you will receive a two-year extension, be assigned to the next available class at the Basic Recruiter Course (BRC), and step onto full-time active-duty orders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long is the active-duty commitment?
The EAD recruiting program is a minimum two-year obligation. Because of fiscal year constraints, your orders will be written in consecutive, stable 12-month increments.
Q: Can I extend my tour beyond two years?
Absolutely. High performers can be authorized for a third-year extension by the Region CG, and sequential fourth- and fifth-year extensions can be approved by the MCRC G-1 Manpower Section, up to a total of 60 months (5 years) of active-duty time.
Q: What if I decide I want to make recruiting my full-time career?
That is exactly what we want. EAD recruiters who demonstrate superior leadership and embrace systematic recruiting will be interviewed to become permanent, active-duty Career Recruiters (BMOS 8412).
