Sergeant Major Adan F. Moreno

Sergeant Major Adan F. Moreno was born in Beeville, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1993. He completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif. in June 1994.  After completing the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting school at NAS Millington, Tenn., he reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Camp Pendleton, Calif. for duty as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Specialist.

Sergeant Major Moreno was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 171 at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in July 1996. In July 1997, Sergeant Major Moreno reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 at MCAS El Toro, Calif. While assigned to MWSS-373, he deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch. In December 1999, Sergeant Major Moreno reported to Recruiters school at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion of recruiter’s school, he was assigned to RS Lansing, Michigan as a canvassing recruiter.

In January 2003, he reported to MWSS-372 at MCAS Camp Pendleton. While assigned to MWSS-372, he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  In May 2006, Sergeant Major Moreno was assigned to the Marine Corps Detachment at Goodfellow, Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas as a Department of Defense Fire Academy Instructor where he taught fundamentals on Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting and Structural Fire Fighting. In July 2009, he reported to MWSS-171 at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.

While assigned to MWSS-171, Sergeant Major Moreno deployed in support of numerous exercises in the Pacific theater.  He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in January 2011 and subsequently received orders to 7th Communication Battalion as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha and Bravo Companies.  In March 2014, Sergeant Major Moreno reported to 6th Engineer Support Battalion, and served as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Engineer Support Company and Bridge Company A.

In December 2015, he reported to Recruiting Station Detroit, MI where he served as the recruiting station Sergeant Major.  In June 2018, Sergeant Major Moreno reported to 3d Battalion 25th Marines in Brook Park, Ohio where he served as the Inspector Instructor Sergeant Major.  In November 2019, he reported to III MEF in Okinawa Japan, where he served as the 3D Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III MEF Information Group, and Camp Hansen Sergeant Major.

In July 2021 he reported to Quantico, Virginia and is currently serving as the Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Moreno’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal w/ (3) gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ (1) gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ (1) gold star and (1) CDD, the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
