Colonel Jeffery M. Morgan

Colonel Jeff Morgan currently serves as Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. 

Colonel Morgan attended the University of Missouri commissioning through the NROTC program in 1993 and later assigned as an Artillery Officer.  From 1994-1997, he served as a Forward Observer, Guns Platoon Commander, Fire Direction Officer and Executive Officer in Tango Battery, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines deploying with 13th MEU(SOC) and participating in Operation Southern Watch.

Other operational assignments include Assistant Battalion Operations Officer, Bravo and Headquarters Battery Commander (2000-2003) in 1st Battalion, 12th Marines.  While in Command of Bravo Battery, he participated in the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan.  In 2009, he was assigned to I MEF G3 Fires and deployed on an Individual Augment assignment with United States Forces – Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2010-12, he served as the Inspector-Instructor (I-I) of 5th Battalion, 14th Marines where he oversaw the mobilization of personnel in support of multiple peacetime and combat operations.  In 2017, he assumed command of 12th Marine Regiment with units in Okinawa and Hawaii, while simultaneously serving as the Division Fire Support Coordinator until June of 2019.

His service in the supporting establishment and joint assignment include Gunnery Instructor for the Artillery Officer Basic and Advance Courses at Fort Sill, Oklahoma (1997-2000); Acquisition and Graduate Education Programs Officer, Manpower Management Officer Assignments (2003-2006); Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Raleigh, North Carolina (2006-2009); Crisis Response Planner, Executive Officer, and Special Operations Branch Chief for the J3 Operations Directorate, United States European Command (2013-2016).

In addition to the Basic School and Artillery Officers Course, Colonel Morgan was the honor graduate of the Artillery Captain’s Career Course, completed Marine Command and Staff College nonresident, and graduated with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Additionally, he received a Certificate in Policy and Strategy as a resident Senior CMC Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC.

Personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
