The SLCDA is a six-day-long program focused on teaching high school students skills critical to future success, such as honor, courage and commitment. Prior to arriving to recruit training, Andrade was required to lose 60 pounds in order to enlist in the Marine Corps. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego.
