A participant in the 2017 Summer Leadership and Character Development Academy (SLCDA) climbs a rope as part of the Leadership Reaction Course July 19 on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va. The SLCDA is a weeklong summer program designed to prepare rising high school juniors and seniors for college by introducing them to Marine Corps skills, ethics, character development and camaraderie.
