U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Jessica Shearer, Communication Officer, 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, interviews students at the National Society of Black Engineers Symposium in Garden Grove, Calif., November 18, 2017. During the symposium Marines interact with collegiate-level students from across the country whom have shown outstanding qualities in education and leadership. By investing in a diverse and representative officer corps, it will help generate and sustain a future force that has the cultural expertise, language skills, and a variety of philosophies needed to meet the operational requirements of the Marine Corps.
