Pfc. John M. Hinajosa Jr. holds a photo of himself prior to joining the Marine Corps as he stands with Sgt. Maj. Troy A. Nicks (left), Sgt. Maj. Marcelino Del Valle and Staff Sgt. David M. Panuska (right). Hinojosa, a New Braunfels, Texas native, lost 135 pounds in 8 months to become a United States Marine. Nicks is the Sergeant Major for the 8th Marine Corps District, Del Valle is the Sergeant Major for Recruiting Station San Antonio and Panuska is the noncommissioned officer in-charge of the office Hinajosa was recruited from, Recruiting Substation Northeast.
