Lieutenant General Mark A. Brilakis, Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, stands with members of Recruiting Substation (RSS) Chattanooga July 17, the day after a local shooting that claimed the lives of four Marines and one sailor at the Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center Chattanooga, Tennesee. Wounded during a related shooting was Sgt. Demonte Cheeley, a local canvassing recruiter at RSS Chattanooga. LtGen. Brilakis met with the RSS Marines and their families to thank them for their service and quick reaction to the unprovoked attack. Also present were 6th Marine Corps District's commanding officer Col. Jeff Smitherman and SgtMaj. Anthony Page; the commanding officer of Recruiting Station Nashville Maj. Kathryn Wagner, and Recruiter Instructor MGySgt. Robert Deskins; and MCRC's SgtMaj. Sam Heyward.
