LYNWOOD, Wa. -- Sgt. Ricardo Schebesta, a Marine recruiter in Lynnwood, Washington, speaks on camera with KING 5 News reporter Eric Wilkinson Jan. 7, 2015, about his role in preventing a robbery outside the office Jan. 6. After hearing shouting and honking outside their office, Schebesta and Staff Sgts. Ben Shoemaker and Bryson Twigg responded to a situation in which two young men attempted to rob an elderly woman. Despite being told by the victim the suspects were armed with a gun, the Marines ran through rush-hour traffic to pursue them. Shoemaker subdued one of the suspects using a wrist lock, a technique taught in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, and held the suspect until police arrived to arrest him. Police retrieved a metal bat from the suspect’s pants but have not yet located his accomplice. Schebesta is from Anaheim, California. Shoemaker is from Spokane, Washington. Twigg is from Akron, Ohio.
