John Toolan (center), the commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, displays the Marine Week Seattle proclamation with Beth Knox (left), the president of SeaFair, and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (right) following a Marine Week Seattle press conference at Seattle City Hall, May 7, 2014. Marine Week Seattle is a community relations event that will be held in Seattle, July 26-August 3. It will provide Washingtonians an opportunity to interact and become acquainted with the Marine Corps as America’s expeditionary force in readiness. During the event, citizens will have the opportunity to view state-of-the-art static aircraft and ground equipment displays, military technology, combat weaponry and the Marine Corps Band. Marines will support community service projects and conduct a variety of demonstrations, including the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and a simulated full-scale combat scenario.
