Sergeant Joseph W. Wooden, a drill instructor from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, gives future Marines a taste of what recruit training will be like, at Port Hueneme, May 3. Marines with Recruiting Station Los Angeles gathered hundreds of poolees, young men and women who have enlisted but not yet left for boot camp, to compete in an annual field meet. During the day, four drill instructors demonstrated the activities that would take place once the poolees begin recruit depot.
