Marine recruiters view combat sports (professional and amateur wrestling and mixed martial arts) as excellent programming venues to reach a large portion of the Marine Corps’ enlisted and officer recruiting prospects. Principles taught to student wrestlers such as discipline, physical fitness, aggressive attitude and mental and physical toughness align with Marine Corps principles.

Educators from states east of the Mississippi River visited Marine Helicopter Squadron 1 during the aviation portion of their visit. While at HMX-1, the educators were briefed on flight operations, flew in a MV-22 Osprey and toured the squadron’s hangar.
