Trenchard welcomes approximately 200 high school students to the 2017 Summer Leadership Character Development Academy at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Va., July 16. The SLCDA engagement is not specifically designed for recruitment, instead, its primary goal is to return the high-caliber individuals back to their schools and communities with greater knowledge of the Marines, sense of purpose and the ability for them to serve as advocates for the Corps due to their first-hand experiences with Marines. Trenchard is the chief of staff of Marine Corps Recruiting Command.

Approximately 50 collegiate educators took flight in an MV-22 Osprey during their visit at Marine Helicopter Squadron One as part of the Officer Selection Officers’ Educators’ and Key Leaders’ Workshop aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., June 20, 2017. During the engagement, the attendees learned about officer programs for their students, conducted patrols, negotiated the Leadership Reaction Course and experienced several other events. The purpose of the workshop is to create mutually beneficial relationships between the educators and the Marine Corps so the collegiate leaders can share their knowledge with their students based on first-hand experiences.
