Major Gen. Mark A. Brilakis took command of Marine Corps Recruiting Command from Lt. Gen. Robert E. Milstead, Jr., during a change of command ceremony at the Clubs at Quantico, July 12.

Milstead served as commanding general of MCRC, in addition to his duties as Deputy Commandant, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, since Dec. 2012. He had also previously served as CG MCRC from May 2008 to Dec. 2010.

“There are some challenging times ahead for the Marine Corps and for MCRC,” said Milstead. “But I will tell you that you have the right guy in [Maj. Gen. Brilakis]. And to everyone in the MCRC family, Suzanne and I will miss you.”

After relinquishing command of MCRC, Milstead will continue to serve as Deputy Commandant, Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

Major Gen. Brilakis, who previously served as Assistant Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources, Headquarters Marine Corps, said seeing Marines he previously served with at MCRC made him feel at home already.

“There is something special about this organization,” said Brilakis. “I will do everything in my power to maintain the standards of quality and diversity that MCRC has set.”
