In support of 1st Marine Corps District’s recruitment effort, American Idol alumnus, Lance Cpl. Josh Gracin continued his Northeastern tour last Friday in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

As a guest co-host of ‘Kicks Country 94.3 FM morning show with Captain Buzz and Brandi’, Gracin spent two hours on-air speaking about the Marine Corps, and serenading the community with songs from his self-titled debut album.

“I had a great time on the show, it was a lot of fun,” said Gracin. “Everyone was so down-to-earth and friendly. I couldn’t believe how interested they were in the Marine Corps, and its traditions,” continued the twenty-three year-old, Michigan native.

Gracin’s two-hour appearance on the show generated $3,800 of free advertising for the Marine Corps. According to 1st MCD Public Affairs Officer, Capt John O. Caldwell, he hopes by the end of July, that Gracin’s appearances will have produced over $100,000 in value-added media success for the command.

Gracin’s schedule in the upcoming weeks include opening at many large country festivals, live television and radio appearances, charity venues, and sporting events.
