U.S. Marine Corps Rct. Douglas Wright, with Platoon 2057, Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, lifts a concertina wire so that his fireteam partner, Rct. Jovan Jones, with Platoon 2057, Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, can crawl underneath during Basic Warrior Training July 6, 2018 on Parris Island, S.C. Basic Warrior Training is designed to teach the importance of teamwork, working under stress and how to perform well while utilizing small unit leadership. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 14, 2018. Approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 49 percent of male recruits and 100 percent of female recruits in the Marine Corps.
