Maj. Adam Taylor, commanding officer of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Orange County, and Sgt. Maj. Jason Politte, the station sergeant major, lead their female poolees to Edison Range during an annual function at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Mar. 10, 2018. This function brought together young women from across southern California to experience aspects of recruit training in order to provide insight and understanding as to what they'll endure at the depot for 13 weeks. Roughly nine percent of women serve in the United States Marine Corps, the smallest percentage of females in any branch of service. This makes it very important to bring these young women together and learn about specific aspects of life as a Marine, such as hair, hygiene, physical fitness and culture.
