An HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter from Air Force Reserve Command's 920th Rescue Wing receives an in-flight refueling from a Marine Corps C-130 aircraft. Air Force reservists from the Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., unit provide astronaut emergency rescue and public safety support for all manned space shuttles lifting off from Kennedy Space Center. The total force refueling operation took place after the rescuers cleared a 60-mile stretch of the Atlantic Ocean of ships and boats, if they came too close to the launch hazard area. The Airmen then positioned nearby on an alert status to aid the astronauts if an emergency occurred. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Gilian Albro)
