Major Gen. Paul Kennedy, Verice Bennett, Ashton Eaton, and Sgt. Maj. Samuel Heyward Jr. pose for a photograph after announcing a new Marine Corps Recruiting Command initiative called the Semper Fidelis All-American Program during a banquet at The Bell Tower in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 9, 2016. The new program is an evolution of the previously executed Semper Fidelis Football Program, which will send one man and woman from each of the Marine Corps’ 48 Recruiting Stations to the Battles Won Academy in Washington D.C. where they will earn the title Semper Fidelis All-American, next summer. For more information on the Semper Fidelis All-American Program and its Battles Won Academy, please visit sfaap.marines.com. The banquet was a part of Marine Week, a celebration of Community, Country and Corps that allows the public to learn about the Corps through hands-on static displays, live demonstrations, time-honored Marine Corps traditions, musical performances and more. Kennedy is the Commanding General of MCRC. Bennett is a retired first sergeant in the Marine Corps, and a Silver Star recipient for his actions in Afghanistan. Eaton is an American decathlete, two-time Olympic champion and a world record holder in both the decathlon and indoor heptathlon events. Heyward Jr. is the Sergeant Major of MCRC.
