CG’s world of sports Week three of intramural flag football comes to an end

MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT SAN DIEGO --
Depot Marines and sailors battled for ground on the gridiron during the third week of the Commanding General’s Cup flag football season on the depot soccer field Tuesday and Wednesday.
Undefeated Headquarters and Service Battalion led the Scarlet Division in the third week with a 5-0 record, followed by the Navy’s Dental team with a record of 4-1.
“We basically have a well-rounded team that wants to come out and repeat last year’s championship,” said the Sgt. Michael L. Morales, H&S Bn., team captain. “Rachel knew that we’re going to win, so she already gave us the championship shirts,” joked Morales.
Recruit Training Regiment’s Support Bn. led the Gold Division in week three with an undefeated record of 7-0, followed by RTR’s 1st Bn.’s 5-2 record.
In the preliminary game of third week, RTR’s 3rd Bn. forfeited to the Navy’s Dental team, ranking them third over the Provost Marshal’s Office.
In the next game, Recruiters’ School played 12th Marine Corps District to maintain their second place contention with RTR’s 1st Bn.
Recruiters School ended the first half with a 2-0 score after a safety on 12th District. Extending their lead in the second half, Recruiters School scored a touchdown, but was unable to complete the point after the touchdown.
Recruiters School pulled away further in the second half with another touchdown and the point after. Late in the second half, 12th District fought their way to a touchdown and two-point conversion and a defensive stop. However, after an impressive return were unable to tie the score ranking them 4th place.
Day two of week three’s first game pitted PMO against RTR’s 3rd Bn. PMO dominated 3rd Bn. 16-0 with an impressive two touchdowns and two two-point conversions victory, tying them for third place in the Scarlet Division.
H&S Bn. pummeled Dental in game two 26-0, ranking them two games ahead second place in the Scarlet Division and adding fuel to the confident team of Marines.
Recruiters School dominated RTR’s 1st Bn. 32-0 in the third game of day two, making Recruiters’ School second place in the Gold Division.
RTR’s Support Bn. destroyed 12th District in the final game of the day 31- 0, putting Support Bn. with a two game lead in the Gold Division.
