Depot Commanding General nominated for his third star

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced the President has nominated Major General Jan Huly, Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region, San Diego, Calif., for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as the Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations, Washington, D.C.

Major General Huly said he is pleased and humbled by the presidential nomination.

"I want to thank all the Marines, sailors and civilians aboard the Depot for their hard work and dedication to the mission of making Marines.  Your efforts have ensured the success of the Western Recruiting Region and the recruit Depot.  My nomination is a reflection of your hard work."

MajGen Huly now awaits the Senate confirmation hearings.
