Robert M. Moyer reported to MCRD Parris Island August 1993. Moyer became an assault amphibian crewman in July 1994, Lance Cpl. Moyer reported to Alpha Company 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division where he served as an assault amphibian vehicle crewman and crew chief. In May 1995, Lance Cpl. Moyer deployed to Camp Schwab, Okinawa with Alpha Company 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion.   

In December 1997, Sgt. Moyer reported to Assault Amphibian Schools Battalion as an instructor. In September 1999, Moyer was named Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.   

In October 1999, Moyer reported to Drill Instructor School Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and later reported to Kilo Company 3D Recruit Training Battalion. During this time, he served as a drill instructor for four cycles, a senior drill instructor for four cycles, and a series chief drill iinstructor for three cycles. In 2002, Staff Sgt. Moyer was named Senior Drill Instructor of the Quarter for the third quarter.   

In January 2003, Moyer reported to Charlie Company 2D Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2D Marine Division where he served as a section leader. In June 2004, Moyer deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion 2D Marines for Operation Iraqi Freedom 2-1, 2-2, and 3-1. On November 1, 2004 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.   

In February 2005, Moyer was reassigned to Charlie Company 2D Assault Amphibian Battalion where he served as the Company Master Sergeant and Company First Sergeant. In June 2007, Moyer attached to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion 6th Marines.   

In April 2008, Moyer was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and assigned to Kilo Company 3D Battalion 9th Marines. He was promoted to First Sergeant on September 1, 2008, during this time the Battalion deployed to Bridgeport California, Yuma Arizona, 29 Palms California, and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 9-2.   

In January 2010, Moyer report to Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, 2D Marine Expeditionary Force in Indian Head Maryland, where he was assigned as the Head Quarters and Service Company First Sergeant. Moyer was frock as a Sergeant Major June 26, 2013.    Moyer’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 2nd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal 3rd award, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal 5th award, National Defense Service Medal 2nd award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service deployment ribbon 4th award, Marine Corps Drill Instructor Ribbon.   

Moyer is married to Susan Acevedo Moyer; they have three daughters Ariana, Mariella and Evelina.
