Colonel Jeffery M. Morgan
Colonel Jeffery M. Morgan is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Finance. He was commissioned in December 1993 and attended The Basic School and Field Artillery Officer Basic Course.
From December 1994 to June 1997, Lieutenant Morgan served with Tango Battery, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines and held the positions of Forward Observer, Assistant Executive Officer, Fire Direction Officer and Executive Officer. While with Tango Battery, he deployed with 13th MEU(SOC) and participated in Operation Southern Watch.
Captain Morgan was then assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma as a Gunnery Instructor for the Officer Basic and Advance Courses and was subsequently selected as the Company Grade Instructor of the Year. Upon completion of instructor duty, Captain Morgan was the honor graduate of the Artillery Captain’s Career Course.
In June of 2000, Captain Morgan was ordered to 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, where he served as the Assistant Battalion Operations Officer, Bravo Battery Commander and Headquarters Battery Commander until June of 2003. While in Command of Bravo Battery, Captain Morgan participated in the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan.
From 2003 to 2006, Major Morgan served as Acquisition and Graduate Education Programs Officer, Manpower Management Officer Assignments, Manpower & Reserve Affairs, HQMC.
In June 2006, Major Morgan assumed command of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Raleigh, North Carolina, 4th Marine Corps District, where he served until June of 2009. From there, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan was assigned to I MEF G3 Fires and deployed on an Individual Augment assignment with United States Forces – Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In June of 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan assumed duties as the Inspector-Instructor (I-I) of 5th Battalion, 14th Marines where he oversaw the mobilization of personnel in support of multiple peacetime and combat operations to include the first reserve west coast artillery battery to participate in the Unit Deployment Program (UDP). Upon completion of I-I duty, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan attended and subsequently graduated with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
From July of 2013 to June 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan served as a Crisis Response Planner, Executive Officer, and Special Operations Branch Chief for the J3 Operations Directorate, United States European Command. Following, Colonel Morgan received a Certificate in Policy and Strategy as a resident Senior CMC Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC.
In June of 2017, he reported to 3d Marine Division and assumed duties as Commanding Officer of 12th Marine Regiment until June 2019.
Personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
