Colonel Dennis A. Sanchez

Colonel Sanchez enlisted into the Marine Corps in 1989. Upon completing recruit training at MCRD San Diego, he attended the School of Infantry and Security Forces School.


Assigned to Marine Corps Security Force Company Alameda, California, Col Sanchez served as a sentry, Corporal of the Guard and Sergeant of the Guard. Transferring to 2d Battalion, 7th Marines, Col Sanchez served in the capacity of squad leader with deployments to Okinawa Japan and Camp Fuji Japan.


In 1995, he was commissioned after obtaining his degree from Saint Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.


After graduation from The Basic School and the completion of the Infantry Officers Course, he executed orders to 3d Battalion, 1st Marines. Assigned to India Company, Col Sanchez served as the Weapons Platoon Commander and then the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander with Weapons Company.


In the summer of 1999, he reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, for duty as a Series Commander with Delta Company, First Recruit Training Battalion. He also served as the Company Commander of Charlie Company, First Recruit Training Battalion.


In 2003, he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 7th Marines as the Weapons Company Commander. During this tour, he deployed twice as a Mobile Assault Company to the Al Anbar Province during OIF II to Hit Iraq and OIF IV to Fallujah Iraq.


In 2006, he was selected to serve as the Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Jacksonville, Florida.


Follow-on tours in recruiting include serving as a District Contact Team Officer and the Deputy of Recruiting Operations for 6th Marine Corps Recruiting District. He also served a tour as the Operations Officer, Enlisted


Recruiting, for Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, SC.


On 2 July 2014, Col Sanchez assumed the duties as Commanding Officer for Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Upon completion of command, Col Sanchez was selected to Top Level School attending the College of Naval Warfare.


Upon graduation, Col Sanchez served as the J33 Current Operations Branch Chief at USSOUTHCOM and the Chief of Operations for USSOUTHCOM’s Crisis Action Team during Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief and crisis response to Latin America.


Col Sanchez has a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.


Col Sanchez and the former Sylvia Olivares of Mercedes, Texas, have been married for over 30 years.
