Major Courtney J. Boston is from Trinity, Texas where he attended Trinity High School. He was awarded a full athletic scholarship to play Football at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Major Boston was a two-sport collegiate athlete competing in both Football and Track. In 2004 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology before starting a career in Education at Huntsville High School. There he taught Special Education, coached Football as a Defensive Coordinator and was the Head Coach for Track and Field. Major Boston then answered the call to enter the United States Marine Corps and become a Marine Officer.
After finishing The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia and The Field Artillery Basic Officer’s Course (FABOC) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in April 2007, Major Boston a Marine Field Artilleryman, was assigned to Battery I, 3d Battalion, 10th Marines, 2nd Marine Division as Provisional Rifle Platoon Commander with Task Force Military Police, and deployed to Fallujah, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom 08.1. He later worked as the Battery’s Fire Direction Officer and Executive Officer, deploying a second time to Helmand Providence, Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom.
From 2010 until 2013 Major Boston instructed at The Basic School. He taught Land Navigation and Fire Support. He served as the Staff Platoon Commander for Golf Company 7-11, Combat Instructor Company Executive Officer, and Commanding Officer. In 2014, Major Boston graduated Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) with distinction and reported to TBS where he performed as Master Instructor managing the Instructor Education Program, lead the TBS Diversity Working Group, and the Enlisted Instructor Certification Program.
After the completion of Weapons Tactics Instructor Course, Major Boston reported to 2d Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division as the 3d Battalion, 5th Marines Battalion Fire Support Officer. He deployed to Okinawa, Japan to support the Unit Deployment Program 16.1 followed by assuming duties as the Commanding Officer, Headquarters Battery, 11th Marine Regiment. During the summer of 2017, Major Boston executed orders to 3d Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa Japan. After graduating from Tactical MAGTF Integration Course with distinction and obtaining the additional MOS of 0577 Operations and Tactics Instructor, Major Boston served as the Operations Officer, 3d Battalion, 12th Marines, and Assistant Operations Officers for 12th Marine Regiment.
Major Boston is married to the former Lena Holley also from Trinity, Texas. They have three daughters; Erica, Jay, and Alyssa and one son, Ty.
