Major Nathan J. Braden


Major Braden completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Norwich University in May 2002 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program.  From June through December 2002, Second Lieutenant Braden completed The Basic School in Quantico, VA and was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 4302, Public Affairs Officer. 

Upon completion of MOS School, Second Lieutenant Braden reported to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif.  He served in a variety of capacities within the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Consolidated Public Affairs Office and was subsequently promoted to First Lieutenant in 2004.

First Lieutenant Braden was promoted to Captain in 2006 and served in a variety of billets until his expiration of active service in January 2007.  From January 2007 through August 2008, Captain Braden served as a member of the Individual Ready Reserve.  In 2008, Captain Braden came back on active duty in the Active Reserve program and served as a Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Reserve (MARFORRES) Public Affairs Directorate, New Orleans, La. until 2011.

In July 2011, Captain Braden was transferred to the Office of U.S. Marine Corps Communication, Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, DC, where he served as an Action Officer as well as the Operational Sponsor for the OUSMCC Individual Mobilization Augmentee Detachment.  He was promoted to his current rank in June 2012.  In 2013, Major Braden reported to Marine Corps Command and Staff College aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico for resident Professional Military Education.       

Upon a graduating from Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Major Braden reported to Reserve Affairs Division, Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department, HQMC, Quantico, Va.  Major Braden served as the Officer in Charge, Transition Section, Reserve Continuation and Transition Branch, Reserve Affairs Division until assuming his current billet of Officer in Change, Prior Service Recruiting Station-4 in July 2016.

Major Braden’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
