Sgt. Joseph M. Parvin, production recruiter at Marine Corps Recruiting Sub-Station Florence, Recruiting Station Louisville, 4th Marine Corps District, Eastern Recruiting Region, earned a Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his outstanding performance during the month of March.

Maj. Gen. Mark A. Brilakis, commanding general of Marine Corps Recruiting Command, presented Parvin with the award during a ceremony at RS Louisville headquarters April 28, 2015.

“I’m very glad and feel honored that the commanding general was here to award me,” Parvin said. “It feels really great to know that the hard work and long hours pays off and as long as you have the right mind set, you can do well as a recruiter.”

Parvin’s professionalism and dedication to duty were exemplified by his achievement of 5 new enlistees that consisted of 2 regular males, 2 reserve males and 1 regular female in a single month.

According to the award citation, “Parvin obtained an impressive 186 points on the recruiting station’s battle gauge surpassing all other recruiters. During this period, Sgt. Parvin performed his duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. [His] initiative, perseverance, and total dedication to duty reflected credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Navel Service.”

“Parvin’s tour was characterized by an ability to perform at optimum capacity under the unyielding stress of the recruiting environment,” said Maj. Donald L. Hotchkiss, commanding officer of RS Louisville. “Sgt. Parvin is a proven dynamic and successful leader. His confidence, focus and drive were unshakable, even in the most challenging situations.”

Parvin originally enlisted into the Marine Corps in November 2005 as an aircraft communication, navigation, electrical and systems technician.  His awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, three Good Conduct Medals, the Global War on terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NATO Afghanistan Medal, three Sea Service Ribbons, the National Defense Ribbon and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one star.
