Col Clark enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in June 1987 and was assigned to 3rd Bn, 24th Marines. In 1990, Col Clark activated and deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Desert Shield/Storm.
Col Clark was commissioned from the PLC program following graduation from the University of Missouri. Following The Basic School and Field Artillery Basic Officer Course, he was assigned to India Battery, 3d Bn, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 29 Palms, CA. In 1997, he transferred to Recruiting Station St. Louis where he served as the Operations Officer and subsequently as the Executive Officer.
In May 2000, Col Clark attended the Field Artillery Officer's Advance Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. And then reported to Camp Lejeune, NC. He assumed command of India Battery, 3d Bn, 12th Marines and deployed to Okinawa. In June 2002, Col Clark was assigned to 5th Bn, 10th Marines and served as the Operations Officer.
From October 2003 to September 2004, he was assigned to the Operations Section, 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In October 2004, he was assigned to the Deployable Training Team, Joint Warfighting Center, Norfolk, VA. Col Clark served as a Current Operations and Joint Fires Observer Trainer and assisted training Joint Task Force Headquarters worldwide in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
In September 2007, Col Clark was assigned to the 12th Marine Corps District, MCRD San Diego and served as the Operations Officer.
In June 2009, Col Clark assumed command as the Inspector-Instructor, 3d Bn, 14th Marines. In June 2010, 3/14 was designated as the command element, SPMAGTF-Africa. Col Clark was assigned as the Chief of Staff and the SPMAGTF deployed to Africa in support of African Lion.
In July 2011, Col Clark was assigned as the CMC Fellow, at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), Washington DC. In Aug 2012, he was assigned to the “Ellis Group,” HQMC, CD&I. The Ellis Group, formed by the ACMC in 2011, was tasked to develop innovative solutions to future amphibious operations and littoral maneuver. From July 2014 to June 2017, Col Clark served as the Assistant Chief Of Staff-Recruiting, Eastern Recruiting Region, MCRD Parris Island, SC.
He is married with three children.
