Gunnery Sergeant Chmielewski completed recruit training at MCRD San Diego, CA in February 2003 and attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA.  Upon completion he reported to MCAGCC 29 Palms, CA for classification as a Field Radio Operator (0621).

Upon completion of training in July 2003, he was transferred to the Select Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, 4th Marine Air Wing in Minneapolis, MN as a radio operator in the Select Marine Corps Reserves.

In January 2004, Lance Corporal (LCpl) Chmielewski was activated in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  LCpl Chmielewski was in Afghanistan from March to Oct 2004 where he earned the Combat Action ribbon.

In September 2005, LCpl Chmielewski was activated in support of the humanitarian effort in New Orleans, LA for Hurricane Katrina.

In July 2008, Corporal Chmielewski joined the Active Reserve program and executed a lateral move to Maintenance Management Chief (MIMMS) where he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, 4th Marine Air Wing in Minneapolis, MN for duty as Maintenance Management Chief. 

From September 2011 until May 2013, Sergeant Chmielewski served as the Battalion Maintenance Management Chief for H&S CO(-) 4th Landing Support Battalion, 4th MLG located in Ft. Lewis, WA.  Sgt Chmielewski also held the billet of Toys for Tots coordinator for the Seattle area in 2012.

From June 2013 until July 2016 he served as a Prior Service Recruiter in Marietta, GA.  He was named the Prior Service Recruiter of the Year for 6 Marine Corps District in Fiscal Year 2015.  In June 2016 he executed a lateral move to Career Recruiter (8412).    In July 2016, he assumed duties as Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) Prior Service Recruiting Substation Chicopee, MA.  He was named the Marine Corps Recruiting Command PSR SNCOIC of the year for Fiscal Year 2018.  

In July 2019, he assumed his current position as Operations Chief for Prior Service Recruiting Station One, 1st Marine Corps District in Garden City, NY.

His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of 7th award), and the Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon (bronze star in lieu of 2nd award), Combat Action ribbon, and the Humanitarian Service medal.

He is married to Jody Chmielewski from Mounds View, MN since December of 2008 and together they have a nine year old daughter (Kaitlyn), a six year old son (Andrew), and a four year old daughter (Kourtney).
