Connecting Educators with the Future of the Marine Corps
Four times per year the 12th Marine Corps District sends approximately 80 high school and college educators, counselors and administrators to MCRD San Diego. Each visit lasts one week, and participants also experience life on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps Airs Station Miramar.
Tuesday - Welcome aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego
Educators are greeted at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego by our illustrious Drill Instructors and made to stand on the same historical yellow footprints every Marine has stood upon before entry into recruit training. Visitors will receive a welcome brief from the Commanding General of the Depot, eat with recruits in training, receive Marine Corps Martial Arts training and run our rugged bayonet assault course.
Wednesday - Visit to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar
After a much needed nights rest, educators will visit Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to talk with Marines of all ages about their experience and get the opportunity to see Marine Corps Aviation up close.
Thursday - Visit to rifle ranges and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton
Educators take a trip North to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton for Marksmanship training and get hands on experience with Marine Corps standard weaponry. They will also witness the emotionally charged Emblem Ceremony where recruits earn the right to finally be called a Marine.
Friday - Graduation Day
A culmination of 13 weeks of intense Marine Corps Recruit training. Educators will receive a warrior's breakfast with the Commanding General after witnessing a Morning Colors ceremony. The final event before heading home is at the time honored graduation ceremony.
