MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT SAN DIEGO -- Week four in the Commanding General’s Cup softball kicked off Tuesday with Marine Corps Community Services getting schooled by Headquarters and Service Battalion, with a loss of 24-3.
Third Battalion and last year’s championship team, Finance, failed to show up for their scheduled games. Fortunately, the games have been rescheduled for Monday at 11:30 and 12:30 p.m.

Support Bn. 3 showed potential in the beginning of their game, but fell short, letting 2nd Bn. squeeze by with the deciding point, 17-16.

With some teams struggling to stay on top of the competition, Dental continued their consistent record in the CG’s cup world of sports by losing both of their games this week.

In Dental’s first game against Recruiter School, their black listed opponents showed some sympathy by letting them score a whopping three runs. Dental lost, 7-3.

Similar to CG’s cup basketball, Dental managed to lose once again to 12th Marine Corps District, 14-10.

"There has been a big improvement in the amount of players on the teams," said Rachel Dickinson, the Commanding General’s Cup coordinator. "I think because Headquarters Service and Battalion holds the cup, the Recruit Training Regiment wants to take it back."

With H&S Bn. already winning the basketball season and all their softball games this week, RTR is going to have to work extra hard to take back what they feel is rightfully theirs.

There are only two weeks left until the playoffs for RTR to accomplish what they set out to do. Games will be held each Tuesday and Wednesday on both softball fields, if Marines would like to come support their teams.
