The teams are set and the Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) is gearing up for the kickoff of the 2014 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.  This nationally televised bowl, featuring the nation’s best and brightest high school football players, will take place at The StubHub Center in Carson, CA.  The game will be aired on the Fox Sports 1 Network live January 5, 2014; 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (PST) / 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. (EST).

The main objective of the Semper Fidelis Football Program is to provide Marines with opportunities to purposefully engage well-rounded student athletes in order to share Marine Corps leadership lessons that will enable future success.  The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl is the culmination of a nationwide All-American player selection tour that collectively celebrates academic excellence, proven physical fitness, and quality of character.

“There are thousands of highly skilled football players in the country we could have selected to play in our All-American Bowl,” said Col. Robert G. Golden III, Chief of Staff, MCRC, “But we only offer this opportunity to elite players who also demonstrate high moral character and leadership in all aspects of their lives.”

The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl is designed to be different than other bowls.  The players selected to represent the Eastern and Western halves of the country were chosen not only because they are among the most talented players in the nation, but also because they bring something more to the game.

“The Semper Fidelis Football Program provides Marines with the opportunity to engage America’s youth and influencers,” said Golden.  “This Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl will bring together some of the most talented high school football players our nation has to offer. These players possess the character, academic excellence and leadership ability to represent the world’s finest – the United States Marines.”
