CMC presents award to MCRC

16 Mar 2007 | Master Sgt. James D. Edwards Marine Corps Recruiting Command

On behalf of the Secretary of the Navy, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James T. Conway, recently presented the Marine Corps Recruiting Command with a Navy Unit Commendation (NUC) for exceptional meritorious service during fiscal years 2005 and 2006.

The Commandant presented the award to the senior leaders of the command at the 2007 Commander's Course and Speed Conference, March 13, 2007, here.

"It was a great honor for the Commandant to recognize the men and women of MCRC," said Brigadier General Richard T. Tryon, commanding general, MCRC.  "It is evident that our leaders recognize the command's total force recruiting successes and they are proud of the efforts and accomplishments of all recruiting command personnel."

The command received its fifth NUC for total force recruiting and officer procurement efforts from October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2006.  Under the intense pressure of a challenging recruiting environment during sustained combat operations in support of the Global War on Terrorism, and amidst a natural disaster that forced the relocation of a district headquarters and numerous recruiting substations, MCRC met or exceeded requirements in all categories.

"From coast to coast, I would like to pass my sincere congratulations to all MCRC personnel," Tryon said.  "This award is a reflection of the total force MCRC team."

All Department of the Navy military and civilian personnel who were assigned to the following units any time between October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2006 qualify for this award: Headquarters, Marine Corps Recruiting Command; Commanding Generals and Chiefs of Staff, Eastern and Western Recruiting Regions; all members of the Eastern and Western Recruiting Regions staffs to include the recruit liaison sections; permanent personnel of Recruiters School, San Diego, Calif.; members of every Marine Corps Recruiting District; members of every Marine Corps Recruiting Station or Officer Selection Team; and all sailors and civilians attached to Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Department 25 (BUMED-25).
